Water fountain planned for playground
A water fountain for the playground is slowly becoming a reality, thanks
to the efforts of parents who established the Karen Colwell Memorial Fund,
the Parents’ Association, and lower school students who are participating
in this year’s Spirit Days Enrichment Fund. After Karen’s tragic
death in 2000, a group of parents determined that funds raised for Karen’s
memorial would be directed toward installing a much-needed water fountain.
To assist with the funding of the project, the Parents’ Association
set aside proceeds from the cookbook sales. Still short of the total funds
needed to complete the project, lower school students have targeted the water
fountain as their number one goal for this year’s Enrichment Fund.
Once the funds are raised and the project has been completed, a ceremony
will be held to dedicate the water fountain in Karen’s memory. For
