Mattie

Mattie is not the average kid, or is she?
She is her last year of high school.
She is a bit of a tom boy.
She is pretty but she doesn't advertise it.
She sees things as parts and parts as complete things. Immediately. Realistically.

Mattie has eidetic imagery. it doesn't affect her performance and sometimes improves it. When she was little her parents were worried and she was prescribed antipsychotic medication. She doesn't take it because it messes up her thinking, but her parents don't know.

If she picks up a bolt, she sees it holding a bridge together in her mind.
The bolt is her friend and it shouts to her out of the bridge.


When she rides in the car she always asks herself,
"What does that do". "What could I do with that".

She has been asking those questions her whole life.
Now she is in her last year of high school, waiting to be discovered...

Mattie lives with her brother, father and mother in their two story cookie cutter house. Her mother has become sick and since then Mattie has holed up in her room trying to figure out why. She spends all her spare time on the computer, except when she's taking care of her little brother and dad. Little brother is okay most of the time. Dad is quiet most of the time.

Mattie keeps searching for the answer.

Mattie has to take care of her next door neighbors.

Mattie has to do chores and has to shut herself in her room.

Mattie tells her Mother:  Since you want to spend so much time, I’ll ride with you to school, but I’ll get my own ride home.

Mattie is an ordinary kid and yet in a way her powers of visualization make Mattie is an extraordinary genius.

Mattie's visions are triggered by music. Music turns on the stream of ideas, the pure ideation. She is a little autistic at times, chatty at others.

She does her homework during History, 1st period, so she fails in that class. Also hates history

Mattie stays up till 2 and 3 every night so she hates waking up.

Hates alarm clocks because refer to top. Mom is always buying new alarm clocks.

She hates History because a threat is that she will get caught doing her homework. Near misses.

She has a computer diary.

The kitchen has a calendar to keep track of the days. Watch to keep track of the days.

Mattie likes V-8, Gatorade. She hates milk.

Mattie is afraid of Sweetie and doesn't like going in his room because Sweetie is dangerous. Mattie is really afraid of Sweetie but still takes care of the kids. What she doesn't know is that the sense of danger she gets from Sweetie will be used to defend her when she is tracking down the roller coaster problem. She is going to confront the guy who did the work. 

Mattie is compulsively afraid of cancer and doesn't know why. this fear controls many of her conscious and some of her unconscious behaviors.... she takes vitamins, she hates cigarettes, she holds her breath around exhaust fumes and paints during art class till she almost passes out and then she has to take a big whif of it ouch!she can rattle off everything that causes cancer and its really annoying, but kind of funny.

Every-day schedule for Mattie

Every morning she tries to kill the alarm clock since she hates having to wake up because she had stayed up until 3 in the morning the night before and her mom is always buying new clocks, doesn’t seem to get why they all keep breaking.

Eventually she gets up and trudges down the stairs, eats breakfast, and tells her mother she’s going to walk the dog but really she goes and takes care of the Little Rascals gives them lunch and gets them ready for school and sends them off on the bus. (She’s afraid of sweetie one of the bigger and tougher LR. He’ll save her life later.)

There is one breakfast that Mattie’s mom doesn’t buy Gatorade. This is a problem, Houston.

She then goes to school, she likes most of her subjects but she hates History. This gives her an advantage because every morning in history-1st period she does her homework for her other classes since she stayed up until 3 working on the computer. There are many near misses and one time the teacher catches her and takes up her homework.

She goes through the rest of her school day sometimes having visions when she hears music. Then after school she stays for soccer practice and she gets a ride with one of the soccer moms.

She then goes home throws her stuff down and gets to work on her computer. Occasionally, her mother makes her do the shopping so she clicks away on her computer, the items on her mother’s grocery list.

Every Wednesday her mother goes into the hospital for treatment for her breast cancer.

Every weekend her family goes to her dad’s amusement park project Cell World where they ride all the rides for free. Mattie also can let guests in for free so the Little Rascals come to the amusement park too. She also has to make sure the social worker never finds out that the LR are living on their own with the help of Mattie.

Daily schedule of MATTIE’S LIFE

*Goes to the LR house every morning.  She is scared of the oldest brother who is about the same age as her, his name is sweetie .

*Goes to CellWorld every weekend to ride the roller coaster. 

*Her mom goes to the doctor every Wednesday for treatment.

*Tries to trick the social worker that comes to the LR house, the social worker comes closer.

Mattie’s Dad

An engineer for a company that builds amusement parks, the company's latest project is an amusement park called CellWorld that have rides that also show you how different parts of the cell work. Mattie's family gets to do recreation alot because it is the family business with the special physics of loops and roller coasters and potential energy and kinetic energy. This will be touched on in physics or math class. The reason matties family rides on the roller coaster every weekend is because that is what her dad does for a living and they can go through the theme park free.mattie likes to invite the neighbors next door because they have no parents but mattie is the only one who knows their secret. she helps them out sometimes when she can get away with it, but they always come to the park over the weekend.

Mattie’s Mom

Is getting sicker but they can't figure out why.  Goes to the hospital for treatment every Wednesday.  Gets into an accident along with Mattie's brother on one of the rides at CellWorld. Mattie’s mother loves life.

Little Brother Kip

brat, plump, eats fatty foods and plays video games most of the time.  Lives to irritate nattie. His favorite flavor of ice cream is double dirty worm farm.

Little Rascals (LR)

the kids next door that don't have parents, Mattie takes care of them and is afraid of Sweeite one of the older, tougher LR who later saves her life.

Mattie is always helping the kids next door. The kids next door have a secret. They have no parents. We never explain how they got no parents, they just don't have any. Oh well maybe once a month they have a "parent" that checks in on them, but they fend for themselves and Mattie helps them on the hard stuff, life faking report card signatures. She hates doing it, but otherwise the monsters from social services, "we from the government and we're here to help you" show up. If the social worker figures out that the Little Rascals have no parents they will be split up and they know it.

Mattie also tries to trick the social Worker that comes by every so often because she's on to them.

Mattie’s History Teacher

Mattie hates history and her history teacher.  She aluays does her homework in first period history and her history teacher catches her and makes her life difficult.Mattie’s Biology Teacher: Mattie loves biology, and often finds herself in vivid daydreams about things her biology teacher is saying.  This starts with the periodic table and moves on touard amino acids, and metabolism, transcription, and fetal development.Mattie’s Math Teacher: Mattie likes math, especially the visual parts about geometry. She sees all the possible tilings of a soccer ball in an instant.Mattie's Physics Teacher: Mattie likes physics.Mattie’s English Teacher: Mattie hates English and thinks that reading long boorish novels is a waste of time.  She sits in the back of the class and wants to sleep.Mattie’s Keyboarding Teacher: is a black lady who talks like a drill sergeant.  She hates the class but it helps her typingMattie’s soccer Team: Mattie plays on a coed youth sports soccer team.  she works well with her teammates.The Construction Workers: these men build the rides at CellWorld where Mattie's dad works as a designer.The Construction Foreman: a dishonest man who embezzles from the company and tries to conceal the cause of the roller coaster accident.
