Mattie has tight, above the shoulder "curllocks", like miniature dreadlocks about as thick as a number two pencil...ok a felt tip pen. She watches the hair conditioning commericials where the white perfect teeth models are slowly pulling their perfectly straight slick silky hair and we see her face as she blows up her curllock, then holds it in the mirror wishing she were they but not really caring either.
